Think Food Safety

Michigan State University Extension

Creative Strategist, Social Media Coordinator, & Copywriter

In March 2020, we partnered with MSU Food Safety experts to create an informational social media campaign, Think Food Safety, centered around the Cottage Food Laws in Michigan and the safe ways to buy from local food vendors. Over a period of just six months, the campaign gained over 700,000 impressions, 4,000 engagements, and 3,000 followers on social media.

Our creative focused on juxtaposing two visuals: the consumer (people in Michigan) and the food items most closely related and stated in the Michigan Cottage Food Law. Throughout the campaign, we shared quick factoids and tips on what food is safe to buy from local vendors, where to purchase food safely, and how to keep your kitchen clean and sanitized, always reinforcing the concept of “Think Food Safety” when buying, selling, or consuming food.
